FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers on hospice care!

Hospice care focuses on the care, comfort, and quality of life of a person with a serious illness who is approaching the end of life. At some point, it may not be possible to cure a serious illness, or a patient may choose not to undergo certain treatments. Hospice is designed for this situation

Hospice care does not focus on treatments to cure the cause of the terminal illness, it seeks to keep the individual comfortable and make their remaining time as meaningful as possible. This includes a focus on pain relief and may include nursing care, but also includes emotional support and help with everyday tasks.

Hospice is a mode of medical therapy that may be more appropriate than curative procedures for people with terminal illness. Hospice focuses on symptom management, controlling pain and addressing spiritual, emotional and psychological comfort.

Palliative care focuses on maintaining the highest quality of life while managing treatment and other needs.  Hospice care specifically focuses on the period closest to death.
